Carolee Jandreau

Mixed Media

Artist Biography

Carolee is self-taught and describes herself as a "narrative mixed-media" artist. Images are drawn on white cotton or cotton-blend fabrics and then hand-painted with permanent dyes using silk painting techniques. Her work is further enhanced with colored pencil, wax crayon and pen & ink detailing with quilting, trapunto and glass beading embellishments. She calls her collection of works "Joys of the Spirit". carolee endeavors to reveal the spirit or essence of each piece that she creates by writing a "narrative" that is incorporated into the work itself. Her predominant creations embrace the rich woodland and plains Native American philosophies but the Spirit/Essence of the angelic realms, totem animals, and elemental entities are brought forth into being as well. Her work is rendered in various soft-sculptural forms, quilted wall hangings, framed originals and reproductions as well as greeting cards.
