Darrell Adams

Pottery

Artist Statement

My primary focus is on wood-fired pottery.  I also like to work with "found" minerals that I process for my glazes.  I make a variety of functional pots and continue to use many of my family's glazes.

Artist Biography

Darrell Adams developed an interest in pottery through his grandfather and great uncle, both who were lifelong potters.  His Grandfather Bill Gordy and his brother D.X. Gordy were pioneers in the transition from utilitarian pottery in Georgia to more modern studio art pottery.  Following the completion of a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Georgia in 1985, he moved to Cartersville, Georgia to work with his grandfather.  He continued to make pottery in his grandfather's shop until 2006, when Darrell moved back to his hometown of Gainesville, Florida.
