Hannelore KrogerFiberArtist BiographyHannelore was born in Berlin, Germany and she came to the United States in 1962. After taking classes in several media, she became interested in Batik, a wax resist method of dying cloth, which was complemented by her background in chemistry. She developed her own line of soft sculptures, which range from tiny mice to six- foot palm trees. In 1990, she began marbling silk. Creating snakes, turtles and other creatures, she was fascinated by the beauty and the softness of pure silk. She started painting on silk using different methods, resists, dyes, and a variety of silks. This developed into her latest line: silk wall hangings and pillows, colorful soft sculpture fish and birds, whimsical angels and mermaids. They are often quilted or embellished with trapunto, beads, sequins, baubles and bangles.
