Artist Biography

Jim, after 40 years of teaching organic chemistry (37 of those at the University of Florida), retired (2003) and has started a new career as a wood turner. He has been working with wood for most of these last 40 years making and designing functional furniture for his home, picture frames, booth displays (for his wife, Malgorzata), etc. Woodturning frees him from strict design for function and offers an opportunity to create shapes that harmonize with the natural beauty of wood grains.
