Artisans' Guild Gallery

Joyce Dewsbury's interest in fabric art did not start suddenly: one of her great aunts was a tailor, her grandfather was a dyer for a textile company, and her father was a part owner of a textile mill. Joyce paints on silk or cotton as well as on other pieces of fabric. These she makes into wall hangings or garments; some of these creations she hand quilts. Joyce has participated in many gallery shows both in and out of state. She was invited to submit one of her works for "Gardenworks 2" at The Craftsman's Gallery in Scarsdale, New York. She states: "It is not an exaggeration to say that I love working with fabric, either piecing it or painting on it. And manipulating colors, juxtaposing different ones in quite unusual combinations is very exciting."
