Malgorzata Deyrup

Jewelry

Artist Biography

Malgorzata Deyrup is a native of Poland. She came to United States in 1982, after martial law was imposed. She moved to Gainesville in 1984, and soon after that her life changed. Although her carrier led her through the world of science she finally found and fulfilled her affection for fiber, designing and actually transforming threads into cloth. Using organized pattern designs, as well as free form painting and dyeing before weaving she creates contemporary wall hangings and rugs. More recently she weaves and constructs art wearables and accessories such as scarves, shawls, ponchos, one of a kind jackets, and handbags. Each of her pieces is unique and hand-crafted. Malgorzata's statement, "The weaver is a craftsman who seeks to develop images".
