Artist Statement

I am drawn to the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi, which is quite difficult to define. Simply put, it is the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. My influences come from everyday observations of shapes and textures in nature. My focus is to keep things simple. I am excited by the magical nature of soft clay to capture moments and textures of time. Working in clay is a satisfying and tactile way of communication for me. Evidence of my touch is apparent in the imperfections found on the surface of my pots.

Artist Biography

Bonner has taught pottery classes and workshops in the Reitz Union at the University of Florida for 26 years. She has a bachelor of fine arts from the University of Florida and a master of fine arts from the University of Georgia.
