INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS

The Gainesville Artisans’ Guild Gallery is a co-operative store operated by local artists. The purpose

 of the Guild is to provide a shop run entirely by members where

members may sell their work, to encourage cooperation among artists and to provide a

clearinghouse for information relating to arts and crafts.

Members set their own prices, with the Guild retaining a commission of 25% to 35% of

members’ gross monthly sales to pay expenses. Payment is made to members on the first Tuesday

of every month.

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• All work must be designed and made by the member.
  

• Members must be able to operate a retail business, which includes:
  

~assisting the customers, taking work down from the wall, balancing the drawer,

~making the bank and electronic Visa deposits

•  Members must have a phone number where they can be reached.
  

•  Members must work at least 4 and no more than 8 hours of sales shift in the assigned schedule.
  

•  Members must actively participate on one of the Guild's operating committees.
  

•  Members should attend business meetings.
  

•  Members must pay a non-refundable membership fee of $100 and an annual fee of $60 in January.
  

APPLYING FOR MEMBERSHIP

• Applications are accepted the first Tuesday in February, May, July or October, respectively.
  

• Complete application form and attach $100 check payable to the Artisans' Guild. This will
  

be returned if you are not accepted. Please bring in or send form with the check one week prior to

the business meeting. This is an official deadline. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.

• Submit three finished pieces characteristic of work for each media with price and submit them on
  

the day of the meeting, not earlier. 

• Sign release form.
  

• Please pick up the work on the day after the business meeting.
  

• You will be notified of the Guild's decision by mail.
