Artist Statement:I have two goals in the fabrication of my jewelry: simplicity and perfection. I strive to make each piece a bold statement in design yet simple in its make up, with as few parts as possible. The finished piece will be perfect in its craftsmanship, fit to be passed on through the ages with each new owner saying "how did he do that?"
Artist Biography:"Having grown up in Jacksonville, Fl., you can imagine what an eye opener it was for me to move to New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1969. It was there during the era of Vietnam and Hippies that I decided to open an antique store rather than finish out my education at Rutgers. The store was great...people every where, Greasy Tony's sandwich shop two doors down...always busy with students. It was an interesting time in history. I also acquired a partner.......Fast Eddie. Amongst other things, he designed and produced jewelry. After watching him on his workbench for two years and numerous trips into New York City to deal with the jewelers and suppliers there, I said to myself "hey, I can do this." So, I bought a bunch of tools and never looked back.
Most of my work is hand fabricated from gold (14 to 24 karat), silver, and platinum wire and sheets of varying shapes and thicknesses. I'm inspired by beautiful stones and random thoughts and designs that magically come to mind. All the materials I employ are natural, untreated, and the real deal. After 42 years of running my own little shop, studio, atelier, "jewelry store", I've decided to get that monkey off my back and tend to the Gallery one or two days a month.
