Artist Statement: I have been making jewelry since 1997. I am Mexican and my work is heavily inspired by pre-Hispanic jewelry. I have traveled through Mexico and learned the techniques of my ancestors. They used bone, wood, leather, and precious stones to decorate silver. My roots have led me to create my jewelry in a traditional metallurgical skill that is unique to Mexico. I start by melting silver, laminating it, pulling into wire. I then combine the silver to create bracelets, pendants, earrings and rings with precious stones, bone, wood and other metals to create unique and exclusive pieces.
