Yolanda Chih-Jou Chiu was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She worked in the fashion industry as a graphic designer for seven years and had her own jewelry studio for eight years before she pursued a Master of Fine Arts degree in Jewelry and Metal Arts from the Academy of Art University. She is known for incorporating fashion and graphic design elements into her metal works. She was awarded Honorable Mentioned award during “Dolls and Where They Live" exhibition from Florida Craft Art Museum in Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA. She received MAG Award during the Spring Show in 2017, one of her works, Natural vs Artificial and Reborn, were chosen out of 240 entries for SNAG Nexus student exhibitions in New Orleans, USA. She also received Helen Bullard Scholarship from NIADA (National Institute of American Doll Artists) in 2017. She received Best in Category for Faculty Choice Award during the annual Academy of Art University Spring Show in 2016, and her acrylic glasses collection was presented at New York Fashion Week. Many of her works have been published in various magazines and newspapers. She is fascinated with ball joint dolls and creates the dolls in her own style. Her current doll series is Alchemy girls.
