Kelly Herring is based in Gainesville, Florida. Informed by a brief academic background in art and architecture, she brings a refined appreciation for structure and composition to organic and landscape subject matter. Her work is heavily inspired by nature, translating the lush textures and forms of her environment into contemporary and traditional cyanotype (sun print) pieces. Original fine art cyanotypes are created from large format negatives and plants on hand-coated, heavyweight archival cotton rags. Each piece is a singular, unrepeatable capture of deep blues and light, utilizing the 19th-century cyanotype process famously pioneered in early botanical photograms and blueprints.
