My interest in stained-glass started with a car accident in Houston, Texas in 1996. My vehicle was in the shop for a week, I was stranded and looking for something to do. I discovered a stained-glass studio and signed up for classes. After returning home to Gainesville, I experimented and made a few dragonflies. I discovered that there was an interest in my creations! I was hooked. My creations are primarily three-dimensional works. I start with a standard subject and transform it through changes in color, shape, and adornments to create new imaginative forms of the original. My work utilizes Tiffany’s “copper foil” technique to create these new forms. This technique includes, the manual cutting and shaping of the glass pieces, wrapping the edges in copper foil and assembly of the pieces with molten solder. All of this occurs in my backyard studio while listening to NPR.
